Oppo Neo - Coming Soon

Oppo is about to launch a new smartphone, called the Oppo Neo, in the mid-range sector. The smartphone will be priced at Rs.11,990 in India. The release date however is yet now known. The Oppo Neo will feature a 4.5 inch FWGA (854x480 pixels) IPS display, which the company claims to come with an improved touch-screen technology and is also compatible with Gloves put on.
In the hardware department, the Oppo Neo is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and sports 5 MP rear camera as well as a 2 MP secondary front-facing camera. The company has specifically focused on the gesture controls in the smartphone and assert that the phone will offer a gesture panel and various gesture-based controls.
At this price point, the phone will stand to compete againt the Motorola Moto G, recently launched exclusively on Flipkart which comes with a 4.5 inch HD display and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor priced at Rs.12,499 for the 8 GB variant.

Tutorial - Install Google Now Launcher on your Android Phone

When the Nexus 5 was launched, we got to see the new Google launcher. This launcher was exclusively available on the Nexus 5 and no other Android smartphone.. However, now, Google is releasing the launcher for other Android smartphones too pretty soon. This new launcher, named the Google Now Launcher, is not yet available on the Official Play Store, but you can follow the tutorial mentioned in this post to get it running on your smartphone.

This tutorial will work only on smartphones with Android Kitkat 4.4.

  1. Download the Google Now Launcher APK by clicking here.
  2. Download the latest update for Google Search APK by clicking here.
  3. Install both the downloaded APKs in your smartphone.
  4. Follow the setup wizard.

BBM Update - New Find Friends Feature

Blackberry has launched a new tool 'Find Friends' in an update to Blackberry Messenger. This seems another desperate bid by the Canadian firm to shift focus to the BBM. The tool, when used, scans a user's contact list to identify those who are already using BBM. It then allows the user to directly send a PIN or invite a friend through SMS.
Blackberry had recently rolled out BBM for Android and iOS, in a bid to regain market share. Reports also suggested that Blackberry is soon expected to launch BBM V2.0.

Leaked - Sense UI on HTC M8

Popular tipster, @evleaks, today revealed a screenshot from HTC's next flagship smartphone (tentatively rumored to be known as HTC M8). The screenshot captured, shows HTC's new Sense UI. The navigation buttons are seen on-screen along with HTC's BlinkFeed and usual four Sense-themed icons. You will also notice transparent notification and navigation, introduced in Android 4.4. Kitkat.

XOLO Q1010 - Coming Soon

Xolo has just launched another new smartphone, named the Xolo Q1010. The phone has been listed on several online retailers including Flipkart. The phone, presently not in stock, should be available really soon.
The phone possesses dual-sim functionality, along with a 5 inches screen. The screen has a 1280x720 pixels resolution IPS Display. The primary camera has 8 MP while the secondary front-facing camera is a 2 MP shooter. Full HD Video Recording is supported. The phone is powered by a 1.3 GHz MTK 6582 Quad Core processor and a Mali 400 GPU. The phone is hosts to varied sensors including proximity, ambient light and accelerometer. The phone packs a 2250 mAh battery, which is capable of delivering up to 19 hours of talk time. The phone, at launch, will be available in black color only. The phone is expected to go on sale this month end.

Rooting - Motorola Moto G

The Motorola G has just been launched in India exclusive on Flipkart. Despite just being launched, it is already possible to root the phone, thanks to some swift and advanced developers. Users can now tweak and customize their phone as per their likes.

Please make sure that you know what you're doing. This procedure, if not done as per the prescribed steps, could brick your phone.

Pre-requisites
1) Your phone should have atleast 80% of battery. Please ensure this as low battery charge could cause the device to turn off during the procedure causing permanent damage.
2) Your phone's bootloader must be unlocked. Click here to unlock your Moto G's bootloader.

Tutorial
  1. Download the Root file by clicking here and extract the directory.
  2. Reboot your device in bootloader mode. (Turn off your phone and then press Volume Down button)
  3. WINDOWS - run 'superboot-windows.bat' as Administrator 
  4. MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-mac.sh' followed by 'sudo ./superboot-mac.sh' 
  5. LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x superboot-linux.sh' followed by 'sudo ./superboot-linux.sh'
  6. You've now successfully rooted your Motorola Moto G.

HyperX Rom - Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562

Charles, an XDA developer has built a beautiful custom rom that performs brilliantly on the Samsung Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562. It is to be noted that this custom rom will work only on the international version and not on any carrier-specific versions. You can have a look at some screenshots from this rom.

Please make sure that you know what you're doing. This process could possibly add a yellow triangle to appear on your boot screen. This procedure, if not done as per the prescribed steps, could brick your phone.
Tutorial
  1. Download the ROM by clicking here.
  2. Transfer the downloaded ZIP to the external SD Card.
  3. Power off your phone.
  4. Boot into Clock Work Recovery Mode (Volume Up + Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button). Click here to know how to installed ClockWork Recovery Mode on Galaxy S Duos GT-S7562.
  5. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
  6. Next, select Install ZIP from SD Card.
  7. Navigate to the ZIP file (HyperX Rom.zip) and select yes to proceed.
  8. When installation is completed, reboot your device.
  9. The first time, reboot may take time.
  10. You now have HyperX Rom installed on your device.
